ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ಯುಗಾದಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕನ್ನಡ
ನಾಟಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ೧೯೮೮ ರಿಂದಲೂ ಮನೆಮಾತು. ಯುಗಾದಿ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಕೆಲವರ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಚರಿಸಿದರೆ, ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಟಕಗಳು ‘ಕಸ್ತೂರಿ
ಕಂಪು’ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವರುಷಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ
ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ೭೦-೮೦ರ ದಶಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು
೨೦ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳಿದ್ದರೆ ೯೦ ರ ದಶಕದಲ್ಲಿ
ಬೆಳೆದ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಗಣನೀಯ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಕನ್ನಡ
ಸಂಘದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣೀಭೂತವಾಯಿತು. ೧೧ ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ ೧೯೯೬
ರಂದು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ರಿಜಿಸ್ಟ್ರಾರ್ ಆಫ್
ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೊಂದಾಯಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಇಂದಿನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಘ ಉದಯವಾಯಿತು.
ಸಂಘದ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಉದ್ದೇಶಗಳು:
- ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ, ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ, ವಿನೋದ ಹಾಗೂ ಶುಭ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸುವಿಕೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವುದು
- ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ವಿವಿದೆಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರೊಡನೆ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸುವುದು
- ಸಿಂಗಪುರದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಇತರ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಜೊತೆ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುವುದು
ಸಿಂಗಪುರದಲ್ಲಿ
ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಮುದಾಯವನ್ನು ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು, ಅವರ ಬೇರುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು
ಪರಂಪರೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ
ಸಂಪರ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿರಲು
ನವೀನ ಮತ್ತು ಸೃಜನಶೀಲ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು
ಹುಡುಕಲು ಸಂಘ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಶ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತದೆ
The Kannada speaking community of Singapore has been
organising activities such as Yugadi (Held at residences) and Kannada dramas (in the name of
Kasturi Kampu) since 1988. In the 70-80 period, there were around 20 kannada families in
Singapore and saw a phenomenal growth in the 90’s.And this triggered the need for the formation of
the association .The formal association named as “Kannada Sangha(Singapore)” was registered on 11
September 1996 under the Societies Act by the Registry of Societies, Singapore.
THE OBJECTIVES OF
THE ASSOCIATION ARE:
- To promote social, cultural, educational, recreational and welfare activities as well as hold Celebrations for Kannada people in Singapore.
- To promote intercultural understanding between the Kannada community and Singaporeans.
- To bridge cultural relationship between Kannada people throughout the world.
The Association always strives
to look for innovative and creative ways to engage the Kannada
Community in Singapore and keep
them connected to their roots and heritage.
