EDITORIAL
Dear Readers,
“A Whole New Mind” the book written by Daniel H Pink, has talked about a few abilities of the ‘Right
Brain’ that brings about a holistic thinking. Identifying concepts regardless of their relationships and
synthesising them to bring about meaningful themes is an attempt that has been my inspiration in bringing
out this Magazine.
I must recognize the foundation laid by the previous Executive Committees of Kannada Sangha Singapore
and Singara Editorial Committees - be it the Magazine’s quality, standard or innovativeness. The effort to
publish this Magazine draws a lot of guidance from the previous magazines.
I had little experience in writing for a Magazine of this stature. Likewise, majority of the editorial committee
members were first timers. What stood out is their enthusiasm to take up this mission.
It’s the inspiration, guidance and the enthusiasm that has become the driving forces in bringing out Singara
2019.
This Magazine has attempted to present three major themes other than the regular archives of awards,
picture collages, and prize-winning literary contributions from Singannadigas.
1. Platform for invited literary contributions in the form of poems, articles or pictures
2. Articles with a purpose to dwell on thinking and information around Kannada language
3. Volunteerism
As always, there are a few new entrants who have experimented their literary skills ranging from an entry
level to a profound research-based experiment. You will see articles from C. R. Surendra, Kumar Gowda, V.
Sivakumar, Venugopal Kulkarni, and Paramod Nayakwadi who have made focused efforts to support the
main theme of “Evolution”.
H. C. Madhusudan has been instrumental in designing the cover page with the able support of Vani Shree,
that depicts the evolving of Kannada Sangha Singapore and Kannada language into the information age.
Likewise, V. Sivakumar has been very steadfast in his efforts to develop the infographics to depict the
